Privileged account password management solution for the Hyper-V environment
Responding to the growth of virtualization deployments in the enterprise, and the need for applications that support this environment, Lieberman Software announced that Random Password Manager is now certified for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V. It is the first privileged password management solution to achieve this distinction.
By supporting Hyper-V, Random Password Manager can automatically update every local administrator password on virtual Windows servers in the enterprise. The product’s entire feature set – including delegated firecall password recovery workflows, hardware encryption capability, FIPS 140-2 certification, and logging of all password operations – are now fully functional in virtual environments.
Random Password Manager continuously randomizes local administrator and root account passwords on all systems in the enterprise, and enables temporary recovery of current passwords via an audited web interface. The product ensures that each system maintains unique privileged account credentials, preventing one compromised firecall password from providing unrestricted peer-level network access.
Passwords are secured using AES-256 encryption in a SQL Server database, SSL encryption of data to the browser, and hardware-based encryption validated to FIPS 140-2 levels 2 and 3. Random Password Manager supports Windows NT/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/Server 2008, Linux and UNIX servers and workstations; SQL Server and Oracle databases; and Cisco hardware devices. In addition to its Hyper-V certification, Random Password Manager is certified for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista, and is RSA SecurID Ready.
