AuthenTec introduces world’s most secure fingerprint sensor
AuthenTec introduced the world’s most secure fingerprint sensor available for the PC market, the AES2810. A fifth generation sensor, the AES2810 is the first match-on sensor solution on the market today, taking advantage of the additional security provided by a single chip hardware solution. It is estimated that up to one out of every four notebook PCs shipping this year will include a fingerprint sensor, and a noteworthy number of these will ship with the AES2810, creating a new generation of highly secure PCs.
The AES2810 integrates the first ever personal data vault contained within a fingerprint sensor for the secure storage of usernames and passwords for pre-boot authentication, Windows and website logins, favorite websites and other personal information. In addition, the sensor’s unique AlwaysOn authentication capability greatly reduces the risk of fraud or data breaches if a laptop is left unattended, lost, or stolen.
The fingerprint sensor supports secure pre-boot authentication, fast user switching, website password replacement, file/folder encryption and auto-password generation. The AES2810 integrates the company’s proprietary TrueFinger anti-spoofing technology, which dynamically measures the properties of the skin during the scanning process. The sensor also integrates new TrueNav navigation features including rocker switch emulation, 4-way scrolling and Vista gestures – gestures available within Windows Vista that allow tablet PC users to navigate more efficiently.
