eBay hacked, user info was posted

Today, a malicious user posted on the Trust & Safety forum on eBay.com posing as approximately 1200 eBay users. The posts were made in a way to suggest that he logged in with their accounts and they contained personal details such as names and contact information.

Even though the posts appeared to contain credit card information, eBay assured that users were not at risk since these credit cards were not associated with the financial information they had on file for these users.

Steps have been taken to remedy the situation within an hour after the incident occured.
