Protegrity Acquires Omnisecure, A Leader In File-Level Security
Stamford, CT, and Santa Clara, CA, March 23, 2006 — Protegrity Corporation, a leading provider of data security management solutions, today announced the acquisition of OmniSecure, a privately held data security company based in Santa Clara, California and Zhu Hai, China. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2000, OmniSecure, developed a fundamental patented approach to file-level encryption which provides transparent encryption to protect sensitive data in files (images, applications, databases). Protection extends to include servers, backup tapes and storage systems. The company’s core product, VPDisk protects files at the kernel level, providing for transparency and speed without requiring changes to existing applications.

The acquisition of OmniSecure comes seven months after Protegrity acquired Kavado, a leading application security vendor. The recent release of Protegrity’s Defiance(TM) 4.0 Security Suite is the first integrated release that covers both application and database security. OmniSecure’s products augment Protegrity’s Defiance Security Software suite, adding file-level security that will integrate into Protegrity’s consistent security policy, reporting and management console.
