Sourcefire launches worldwide training and certification programme
July 13, 2005 Sourcefire, Inc., the world leader in real-time network defence, today announced a comprehensive online training and certification program to support the demand from its growing customer base and the Snort® community worldwide. Sourcefire customers, resellers, technology partners, security professionals and the “Open Source Snort” community now have continuous access to courses for optimising Sourcefire products and the open source Snort technology.
Martin Roesch, founder and CTO of Sourcefire, said: “The Sourcefire 3D System is widely recognised as the best network security solution in the industry but superior technology is only the first step in ensuring the security of your networked assets. Sourcefire encourages our users to attend training to fully optimise all features and functionality of the product. By implementing an online training program, we can offer a high quality program that is consistent across all the geographies and allows users to schedule sessions at their convenience.”
Sourcefire launched this new training programme to address the growing worldwide demand for Snort and Sourcefire classes. Sourcefire is currently the fastest growing US-based security company with global corporations implementing its solutions throughout their enterprises around the world. With more than 2 million downloads to date and over 100,000 active users, Snort is the de facto standard for intrusion detection and prevention.
Mark Stanhope, information security manager and UK Snort user group organizer, said: “Having attended an instructor-led training, I was impressed with Sourcefire’s ability to introduce innovative approaches that were useful to both beginners, as well as attendees like myself who have been using the technology for over five years. Sourcefire’s online training programme promises to provide users around the world with the same real-world insights and expert advice, so that we can also increase the effectiveness of our security implementations.”
Sourcefire’s programme provides customers with multiple training options to best suit their needs, including online courses; instructor led regional trainings; and custom on-site workshops. Sourcefire also offers a certification programme that verifies knowledge of the Sourcefire 3D Systemâ„? and Snort Technology. These certifications can be used by security personnel and employers to validate and promote an individual’s competency as well as a company’s intellectual knowledge and experience. Certification courses will become available in late July.
Karen Paulson, vice president of Education, said: “With the exponential growth of the Sourcefire and Snort user bases, we have received strong demand to implement a worldwide training and certification program that allows our users to build their skill-sets and competencies. Sourcefire’s instructor-led trainings have received very positive reviews from our attendees, with our global customers asking us to add additional geographies to our schedule. This online program will enable Sourcefire to consistently deliver this same high calibre of education worldwide, while providing customers with delivery options that best suit their needs.”
As part of the company’s channel-centric approach, Sourcefire continues to offer free training for the Sourcefire 3D System to accredited resellers.
