Email Systems Appoints Neil Burgess As CTO
Email Management specialist Email Systems has appointed Neil Burgess as company CTO, with senior responsibility for technology leadership and lifecycle management of Email Systems services across the organisation. Neil joins from Clearswift where he held the position of CTO from the earliest days of the organisation throughout its growth into fifteen countries with 15,000 customers and over 20 million end-users worldwide.
This executive appointment comes at a time when Email Systems is gearing up for a phase of rapid expansion, with various other appointments of key positions lined up for the coming months and an aggressive expansion plan to be implemented for 2005.
With twelve years of executive management experience in diverse markets, including Government & Defence, Finance, ISPs, Enterprises and SME, Neil Burgess has extensive experience of leading multi-skilled, multi-disciplined teams within software engineering, product management, technical support, QA and professional services.
A specialist in the Secure Content Management (SCM) and Employee Internet Management (EIM) markets, Burgess has founded several major in-market product concepts and developed multi-platform solutions in areas such as messaging, web, anti-spam, anti-virus, intellectual property protection and regulatory compliance. His client experience includes work alongside Merrill Lynch, CISCO, Vodafone, NATO, the European Commission & Standard Life amongst others.
Neil Burgess’ appointment heralds a reshuffle of senior staff within the organisation, with founding Director Jim Page moving into a dedicated role as Senior Technology Architect and concentrating on developing the company’s email management package on an ongoing basis. This role will allow Jim to continue to enhance the overall suite of services, including the popular anti-virus and anti-spam modules but also the newest additions, such as the archiving solution, to provide an ever-improving package of services.
Said Neil Burgess, CTO of Email Systems:
“Joining Email Systems was a choice that I was extremely keen to make in light of the company’s reputation as a highly forward thinking organisation and the excellent technology that the email management package currently offers. Moving forward we are ambitious to begin to make the significant step-changes that will propel the organisation forward, building on the rapid growth that the company has enjoyed during 2004 and winning over an increasing number of clients with a best-of-breed offering.”
Neil Hammerton, Managing Director of Email Systems, added:
“This is a real coup for our company as Neil is an extremely competent, highly sought-after technology practitioner who will add a wealth of experience and personal credibility to the business. This appointment will have the dual benefit of allowing Jim the time, creative freedom and flexibility to concentrate solely on the ongoing improvement of our core services whilst Neil focuses upon broadening our strategic horizons in order to take Email Systems offering to the next level and well beyond.”
