State Of Iowa Judicial Branch Selects Sygate’s Advanced Endpoint Security For Windows XP Embedded Thin Clients
FREMONT, Calif.-October 4, 2004-Sygate Technologies announced today that it has been selected by the Iowa Court Information System for the State of Iowa Judicial Branch to install Sygate Security Agent 4.0 for Windows XP Embedded on all of its HP thin clients throughout 99 counties in the State of Iowa.
The solution for HP Compaq t5700 series thin clients provides advanced security protection for all of the department’s HP thin clients running Windows XP Embedded. Sygate’s agent combines an advanced application-centric firewall and application-based intrusion prevention engine with enhanced network-based virus protection, in a 4MB single-agent footprint optimized for flash-based embedded devices. With Sygate’s agent embedded on all of its HP thin clients, the Judicial Branch can ensure that any thin client used for mission critical activities – from accessing or reporting court data to allowing the general public to look up public records in the court house – is always in a trusted state and in compliance with corporate security policies. The Sygate Security Agent 4.0 is compatible with both Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 1 (SP1), as well as Service Pack 2 (SP2), which was announced today by Microsoft as available as a free Technology Preview.

Sygate Security Agent 4.0 for Windows XP Embedded
Sygate Security Agent 4.0 for Windows XP Embedded is the second in a series of releases that Sygate now offers to secure and protect Windows XP Embedded devices from outside threats. Sygate Security Agent 4.0 for Windows XP Embedded extends Sygate’s award-winning endpoint security technology to Windows XP Embedded devices, and includes an application-centric firewall, application-based intrusion prevention engine and enhanced network-based virus protection. In September, Sygate announced that version 4.0 of the solution had been specially optimized for Windows XP Embedded environments where Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) play an even greater role in deployment decisions. With the 4.0 release Sygate has:
– dramatically reduced the footprint size of the Sygate Security Agent component to 4MB while maintaining the rich functionality and the advanced features of its solution for other Windows platforms;
– fully integrated the Sygate Security Agent component with Microsoft’s Target Designer enabling developers the unique capability to easily customize configurations specific to the customer’s needs, including the setting of default security policies and the ability to automatically control various runtime characteristics of the Agent;
– added the Policy Editor to modify lock down policies to be deployed with the Sygate Security Agent;
– provided a run-time version of the Sygate Security Agent component with a simple Windows Installer which enables customers to deploy the agent on systems currently installed in the field without having to prepare and distribute a completely new image;
– adapted the Sygate Security Agent for Windows XP Embedded to operate in an autonomous or centrally managed mode.
