F-Secure Supports Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2

Helsinki, Finland – August 13, 2004 — F-Secure’s products now support the new Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), which was announced on August 6th, 2004. Actually the support updates for F-Secure’s products were made available already on August 5th, 2004, and include the following product versions: F-Secure Anti-Virus Client Security 5.50 and 5.52, F-Secure Anti-Virus 5.40, 5.41, and 5.42, F-Secure Anti-Virus 2003 and 2004, and F-Secure Internet Security 2003 and 2004.

F-Secure support packs for Windows XP SP2 provide official support for all new features introduced in Windows XP SP2 and tight integration with the new Windows Security Center. To enhance the benefits of Windows XP SP2, F-Secure advises all users of the Windows XP operating system to install the support pack before installing the service pack.

“It is our top priority to make sure our customers can always reap the benefits of the latest protection, and we help to make the most out of Windows XP SP2 by ensuring timely delivery of compatible products and by providing, for example, integration to the Windows Security Center,” explains Pirkka Palom?¤ki, VP of R&D at F-Secure. “We had started the preparations early and our processes once again turned out to be successful – the support packs were available already before the service pack was actually released,” he continues. “The benefit of the early availability of F-Secure’s support packs is that customers can update their F-Secure products well before they actually get the Windows XP SP2 update. Thus the SP2 update can be performed immediately when the customer gets it from Microsoft.”

“Microsoft is pleased F-Secure is supporting Windows XP SP2 thereby allowing our mutual customers to benefit from a well-integrated anti-virus and intrusion-prevention solution that is easily monitored and managed through the Windows Security Center,” said Neil Charney, Director, Windows Client at Microsoft Corp. “Collaboration between companies such as Microsoft and F-Secure is an important step in helping to address the complex issues associated with PC security.”
