Astaro Unveils Configuration Manager for Management of Security Policies Across Multiple Network Security Devices
BURLINGTON, Mass. – December 9, 2003 – Astaro (www.astaro.com), makers of the popular Astaro Security Linux, an all-in-one Internet security software appliance, today announced shipping of the Astaro Configuration Manager, a configuration tool that allows users to manage and configure their security policies centrally, automating the provisioning of network security rules on multi-vendor routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs.
“In a nutshell, this solves the problem behind the management and configuration of multiple security devices and their policies,” said Jan Hichert, Astaro CEO. “Additionally, the Astaro Configuration Manager offers a visual interface where the administrator can essentially drag and drop new devices into the network for policy management reconfigurations.”
“Astaro Configuration Manager leverages the power of the Solsoft OEM Toolkit. In a matter of weeks, Astaro was able to develop a solution on Solsoft technology and make it available to their customers,” said Gilles Samoun, Solsoft CEO. “We are delighted that the end solution helps simplify the management and deployment of network security rules in Astaro environments.”
This central management interface is particularly valuable in the management interface of extensive IPSec-VPN setups.
For example, configuring an IPSec-VPN between two networks requires only four steps and takes less than one minute. Extrapolated to a typical enterprise VPN infrastructure of hundreds of gateways, this can amount to a substantial time savings. Administrators can also test security guidelines hypothetically before making changes to configurations, thus having a substantial impact on users and applications.
