Excedent Appoints Kevin Minnick, VP of Product Development
Vienna, Virginia (December 8, 2003) – Excedent Technologies, the leader in managed email hosting and security threat prevention for service providers, today announced the appointment of Kevin Minnick as Vice President of Product Development. A veteran of the software industry, Minnick most recently worked for Honeywell Corporation where he helped the POMS division develop software for the pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods industries.
Minnick is no stranger to Excedent, having played a major role in helping the current management team build its original product and service line, prior to his position at Honeywell-POMS. “Bringing Kevin back into the full-time mix to lead our product development initiatives will be a major productivity boost,” commented Bill Boebel, Chief Technology Officer at Excedent. “We work very well together, and he is familiar with most of our management team as well as our software development staff. He is light years ahead of anyone we could recruit off the street, even from within the industry, and will have an immediate impact on our current and future product goals.”
“The company has come a long way in the last four years,” said Minnick. “I’m proud of what this management team has built and I’m happy to be reunited with the founders. The industry is moving quickly and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”
Minnick’s first initiative once on board is to facilitate the deployment of Excedent’s newly developed infrastructure scaling architecture. This project will ensure optimal email performance as Excedent’s customer base continues to grow and as spam and virus threats worsen.
“Kevin is a great visionary and the best software developer I’ve seen,” emphasized Patrick Matthews, CEO of Excedent. “Bringing Kevin back in a heightened role is exciting and speaks volumes about where we are as a company. We have emerged as a market leader in the email hosting industry, building our business in some of the toughest economic times this country has seen. Our business is growing and the leadership that Kevin brings to the table will help take our business to the next level.”
Minnick will be based out of the Blacksburg, Virginia office and will help Excedent expand its presence in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center. “Virginia Tech is a breeding ground for future leaders and innovators,” commented Matthews. “We’re very excited about growing our business in Blacksburg.”
