U.S. Army 5th Signal Command in Europe Extends Websense Commitment with a $1.3 Million Order
CHERTSEY, 12 November 2003-Websense Inc. (NASDAQ: WBSN) today announced that the U.S. Army 5th Signal Command has increased its deployment of Websense Enterprise(r) software to manage Internet use by soldiers and civilian employees across Europe with the purchase of additional seats and Websense product modules. This order for an additional $1.3 million in Websense products brings the U.S. Army’s total year-to-date billable purchases to more than $2.7 million.
In addition to Websense Enterprise software, the 5th Signal Command has purchased Websense modules that prevent access to malicious code and spyware sites, block advertisements, enhance productivity and optimise network bandwidth. This deployment of Websense Enterprise v5 along with complementary modules provides layered protection against emerging threats to the network environment associated with the use of spyware, peer-to-peer networks and instant messaging, along with extensive reporting tools.
“The U.S. Army’s investment of nearly $3 million in best-of-breed Websense solutions is testament to the high quality and unsurpassed scalability of our products and support services,” said John Carrington, chairman and CEO, Websense Inc. “This new subscription represents the single largest transaction in the company’s history and highlights the significant, long-term commitment Websense and the U.S. Army have made to protect the Army’s computing environment from unauthorised content and emerging network threats.”
The 5th Signal Command’s Army Network Operations and Security Center-Europe is the network operations focal point. The center provides a single point of contact for providing network and desktop services, supporting all Army, joint and multinational forces in the European theater.
In addition to the U.S. Army 5th Signal Command, other U.S. Army organizations using Websense products include the West Point Military Academy, Third Army Headquarters, Fort Knox, U.S. Army Central Command, and U.S. Army deployments in the Middle East.
“The U.S. Army 5th Signal Command, along with other U.S. Army facilities worldwide, chose Websense because of our superior technology and product roadmap,” added Carrington. “Websense has consistently invested in new product development to maintain our high levels of technological leadership while defining a platform of offerings to meet the broadening landscape of Internet-borne threats.
