New Zone Labs Integrity 4.5 Strengthens Network Security Policy Enforcement for Today’s Borderless Enterprise
Best-in-Class Security Solution Redefines Enterprise Network Protection with Increased Scalability, Support for 802.1x and Security for Instant Messaging
Washington, D.C., CSI 30th Annual Computer Security Conference and Exhibition, Booth #319 – November 3, 2003 – Zone Labs Inc., the most trusted provider of endpoint security solutions, today announced Zone Labs Integrityr 4.5, a new version of the company’s best-in-class, centrally-managed endpoint security solution. Available later this month, Integrity 4.5 offers the broadest standards-based support for enterprise-wide policy enforcement for today’s borderless enterprise. In addition to more complete integration with network access devices, increased scalability and further security hardening, Integrity 4.5 allows enterprises to secure employees’ use of public instant messaging services to reap the productivity benefits of instant messaging (IM) without having to invest in proprietary solutions.
“The weakest link in an enterprise risk management program is unsecured end-points which expose vulnerabilities to the corporate network and drain IT productivity,” said Eric Ogren, senior analyst at the Yankee Group. “Zone Labs Integrity implements standard 802.1x technology in enforcing a centrally managed policy for end-points that extends risk management well beyond the scope of antivirus solutions. Enterprises are deploying Zone Labs to reduce end-point security incidents and significantly reducing the risks of business disruption.”
Integrity 4.5 drastically reduces enterprise exposure to security vulnerabilities, malicious code and targeted attacks by using a ‘proactive security’ approach rather than the traditional, reactive methods dependent on anti-virus updates and software patches. Integrity’s combination of robust, multi-layered client protective mechanisms and centrally-managed security policy prevents threats from penetrating the network, thus halting propagation and further damage. This ‘Zero Day’ proactive protection becomes even more important with shrinking timelines between the discovery of a vulnerability and the rapid spread of specific exploits such as seen this past summer with the MS-Blast worm.
Broadest Available Policy Enforcement Inside and Outside the Corporate Walls With the release of Integrity 4.5, Zone Labs provides the strongest security policy enforcement technology currently available. Integrity’s existing Cooperative Enforcement technology, which is supported by leading networking and remote access vendors such as Aventail, Cisco, Check Point, FiberLink, iPass and Neoteris, enables administrators to respond quickly and consistently on an enterprise-wide basis to new vulnerabilities, threats and changing security requirements.
Integrity’s Advanced Cooperative Enforcement (ACE) extends Cooperative Enforcement to include additional policy elements such as up-to-date anti-virus, registry keys or memory processes, allowing security administrators to create sophisticated, granular policy as a prerequisite for network access. With Integrity 4.5, ACE now includes remediation features. To help users understand security policy and to eliminate an undue burden on security administrators, self-remediation in Integrity 4.5 helps users get back in compliance without assistance from IT.
Integrity 4.5 now provides standards-based policy enforcement for 802.1x, including more sophisticated wireless support, and extends its proprietary support for the Nortel Contivity line of VPNs.
Standards-Based Policy Enforcement through 802.1x and EAP Support Integrity 4.5 uses a standards-based approach to enforce the most comprehensive endpoint security policies on all PCs that access the network, whether from inside or outside the corporate perimeter, using a wireless or wired connection. Support for the industry-standard Extensible Authentication Protocol and 802.1x enables Integrity 4.5 to integrate with over 200 network access devices -including many switches and wireless access points- from more than 22 leading vendors who have stated support for EAP, including Microsoftr Windowsr 2003 Remote Access Server and client as well as the Cisco Aironet Wireless Access Points.
Prevents Rogue Wireless Network Access
Integrity offers the most comprehensive wireless security, providing three critical lines of defense. Integrity 4.5 defends the enterprise from the rapidly spreading practice of employees using their own wireless access points (WAPs) and opening holes in network security. In addition to preventing client access to rogue wireless points, Integrity 4.5 is able to recognize and enforce wireless-specific policies for authorized WLAN connections. Finally, Integrity 4.5 can deny access to the network, via 802.1x and EAP, to non-compliant users.
Enhanced Nortel Integration
Nortel and Zone Labs now support Cooperative Enforcement for Contivity VPNs, ensuring that only policy-compliant endpoints can access the enterprise network.
Secure Instant Messaging
Integrity 4.5 also introduces new features to protect the growing number of enterprises in which employees use public IM services to communicate. Meta Group predicts that by 2007 over 90% of Global 2000 knowledge workers will be running an IM service. Based upon the technology that Zone Labs acquired this past summer to secure instant messaging at the protocol level, Integrity 4.5 includes an optional module to secure PCs from vulnerabilities introduced via any client that accesses AOL, MSN and Yahoo! public IM services.
Unlike traditional approaches to IM security which require proxy servers or use firewall-like rules to block IM traffic, Zone Labs takes a client-centric approach to protecting PCs using IM. As a result, enterprises can easily add IM protection to their existing security infrastructure, retaining the benefits and flexibility that public IM services provide while eliminating the need for costly retraining or installation of proprietary IM solutions. Integrity 4.5 enables central management of encryption for instant messages, content filtering, usage controls, unsolicited communication blocking, as well as usage and event reporting.
Increased Scalability
Integrity 4.5 minimizes the total cost of ownership for high volume deployments, with significantly increased scalability and management improvements. Integrity 4.5 can enforce policy and provide updates to as many as 75,000 users who are concurrently connected to the enterprise network using a single Integrity Server.
“As employees increase their reliance upon new technologies such as IM and wireless networks, simply blocking them is no longer a viable security option,” said Frederick Felman, vice president of marketing, Zone Labs. “Zone Labs recognizes that a complete endpoint security solution must safeguard the corporate network from the newest security hazards that emerging technologies introduce as well as from the ever-evolving risks posed by software vulnerabilities, hackers and data thieves.”
Pricing, Availability and System Information
Zone Labs Integrity 4.5 will be available for purchase from Zone Labs and from Zone Labs Authorized Resellers, mid-November 2003. Pricing for Zone Labs Integrity 4.5 varies depending upon volume purchased and configuration, with pricing beginning at $65 for an end user license, and an Integrity server license included. Pricing for the optional IM security module in Integrity 4.5 starts at $20 for an end user license, with volume discounts available.
Integrity Server supports Windowsr 2000 and Windows 2000 Advanced Server systems while Integrity clients run on Windows 95 (OSR2), 98SE, 2000 Pro SP4, NT 4.0 Workstation SP6a and XP Professional machines.
