Diversinet Earns NIST Listing for Passport Mobile Security Solution
Earns U.S. Government Listing and Certification for the Deployment of Secure Wireless Solutions
TORONTO, Canada, July 9, 2003 – Diversinet Corp. (OTC BB: DVNTF), a leading provider of secured mobile solutions, today announced that its solution for mobile security has been approved and added to the National Institute of Science & Technology’s Validated Products List.
An integral part of homeland security and other government security initiatives is offering mobile solutions to the different agencies in an effort to empower them with more accurate and real-time information and communication. A key element of deploying such solutions is a high level of security. Diversinet is the only dedicated wireless PKI-based security solution provider that has received certification and is listed on NIST.
Diversinet’s Passport Certificate Server® version 4.1.1, having been evaluated and validated in accordance with the provisions of the NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme and the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA), has been put on the National Institute of Science & Technology’s NIST Validated Products List (http://niap.nist.gov/cc-scheme/ValidatedProducts.html#pki) effective June 20, 2003. Products must undergo rigorous testing by an accredited independent lab to satisfy the stringent standards.
Products on the NIST Validated Products List have been evaluated and accredited by an approved evaluation facility in one of the countries that participate in the CCRA for conformance to the Common Criteria for IT Security Evaluation (ISO Standard 15408). Sixteen countries, including the United States and Canada, currently recognize the Common Criteria Certification.
“The NIST listing reinforces Diversinet’s commitment to providing mobile security solutions for the sensitive information and systems used by governments,” said Nagy Moustafa, President and CEO of Diversinet Corp. “By having the common criteria certification and official listing on NIST, US government agencies may use the Diversinet mobile security solution as part of their wireless efforts insuring them the highest level of security.”
Passport Certificate Server allows the deployment of secure applications such as e-mail, messaging, secure ID and information systems to the wireless environment to any mobile device including Palm, Windows Mobile(tm) Pocket PC, Symbian, and Blackberry wireless handhelds.
“Mobile and wireless technologies hold tremendous promise for empowering a new generation of homeland security initiatives,” said Richard Clarke, former special adviser to the President on cyber-security and expert on homeland security issues. “Having a mobile security solution as part of the overall wireless strategy insures the highest level of secure communication when deployed in the field.”
By offering a single authentication solution for all wireless devices, agencies will be able to deploy multiple solutions on one secure wireless infrastructure.
