Schlumberger Wins SC Magazine Award for Best Biometric Solution
London, 30 April 2003 – Schlumberger announced today that its information technology (IT) business segment, SchlumbergerSema, won the Best Biometric Solution for its DeXa.Badge* Secure Authentication Solution (SAS) at the Secure Computing (SC) Magazine Awards. The award was announced in a formal ceremony held on the eve of the InfoSec 2003 security conference taking place in London this week.
DeXa.Badge, part of the Schlumberger DeXa* Suite of Services for infrastructure solutions, is a secure identity management and physical access control solution that enables employees to carry a single credit card-sized device to gain access to buildings, networks, email and encrypted files, wherever they are working or travelling. The DeXa.Badge SAS enables multiple authentication mechanisms, including biometrics, to be applied via authentication policies that can be based on individuals, groups, applications, realms, channels or entry points, to different services and applications. DeXa.Badge SAS provides an extensible architecture to deploy different biometric technologies for multi-factor authentication in conjunction with other existing authentication schemes.
DeXa.Badge is also part of the Schlumberger Enterprise Security Solutions, which encompass the company’s entire range of integrated business process and IT security consulting, systems integration, managed services and infrastructure solutions. Enterprise Security Solutions from Schlumberger are designed to improve security across business operations, in turn enhancing revenue through greater efficiencies and economies of scale.
“We continue to be challenged to provide increasingly stronger means of efficiently protecting corporate data and networks so that our customers can conduct critical business operations in a secure environment,” commented Mauricio Arboleda, vice president, Global Security Solutions, SchlumbergerSema. “Receiving the Secure Computing Magazine Award for best biometric solution validates the hard work of our DeXa.Badge research and development team, work from which our customers can benefit.”
