Network Associates and RCN Partner to Offer McAfee Security Services to Internet Customers
Nation’s Largest Provider of Bundled Telecommunications Services to Market And Sell McAfee’s Anti-Virus, Personal Firewall, Privacy and Anti-Spam Solutions
SANTA CLARA, Calif., and PRINCETON, N.J., April 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — McAfee(R) Security Consumer, a business unit of Network Associates, Inc. (NYSE: NET), and RCN Corporation (Nasdaq: RCNC) today announced an agreement to make McAfee’s Web security solutions available to RCN’s customers, beginning in the second quarter 2003. With more than one million customer connections, RCN is the nation’s largest provider of bundled cable TV, phone, and high speed Internet services.
Under this agreement, RCN will market and sell McAfee Security services including McAfee VirusScan(R) Online, McAfee Personal Firewall Plus, McAfee Privacy Service, McAfee SpamKiller(TM) and a co-branded McAfee Security Center to all new and existing RCN Internet customers. With this new agreement, RCN customers will have access to the complete suite of powerful, easy-to-use and always up-to-date McAfee solutions, easing concerns about computer viruses, hackers and other Internet threats.

With McAfee’s online security solutions, RCN customers now have powerful and easy-to-use tools to ward off destructive viruses, block hacker attacks, filter spam e-mail and maintain their Internet privacy. In addition, customers who choose McAfee products will receive the McAfee Security Center, an innovative set of security tools to alert and inform users in real-time about Internet threats, quickly determine their vulnerability to those threats, and provide access to vital security information through the McAfee Virus Information Library and World Virus Map.
