NIA takes advantage of ZixCorp’s pre-configured HIPAA lexicons and automatic encryption policies

DALLAS — April 21, 2003 — Zix Corporation (ZixCorpâ„?), (Nasdaq: ZIXI), a global provider of e-messaging management and protection services, today announced that National Imaging Associates, Inc. (NIA), one of the nation’s leading providers of radiology benefits management, has chosen ZixCorp services to help enforce its company-wide email security policies.

NIA purchased ZixVPMâ„? (Zix Virtual Private Messengerâ„?) for company-wide email protection services. ZixVPM is a server-based solution that provides a high level of encryption and management for both inbound and outbound email communication. The service also includes a pre-configured lexicon that detects information mandated as Protected Health Information by

the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and automatically encrypts this information to protect privacy and prevent regulatory violations.
