MADRID, December 18, 2002
Panda ActiveScan, Panda Software’s free online antivirus, has come out on top in a comparative review published by the prestigious German magazine PC Welt. The exhaustive analysis was performed by the well-known IT specialist Andreas Marx, Director of the Anti-Virus Test Center at the University of Magdeburg, Germany.
Six other online antivirus solutions were also studied in the comparative review carried out by the IDG group publication including: Trend HouseCall, Rav OnlineScan, Command On-Demand, Bitdefender, Symantec Scan for Viruses and Nprotect. All antiviruses were subject to rigid and thorough testing where the outstanding characteristics of Panda ActiveScan stood out. The results of the comparative found that Panda ActiveScan was capable of detecting 100% of the malicious code used in the comparative.
Panda ActiveScan performs scans rapidly and is extremely easy to use thanks to its new user-friendly interface. It is updated daily from Panda Software’s own servers, guaranteeing the detection and elimination of any virus. It allows users to neutralize any of the more than 64,000 viruses, scanning the entire system (hard drives, disk drives, memory, boot system, e-mail, folders and individual files, etc.) It can also send suspicious files which may contain malicious code to the SOS Virus laboratory 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Panda ActiveScan allows users to scan their PCs at the same time as carrying out other tasks, such as browsing the Internet. It also incorporates an innovative system to make connection to the Internet necessary only at the beginning and at the end of the scan.
Panda ActiveScan 4.0 is continuously available on the Panda Software corporate website at
