Zone Labs Announces Zone Labs Integrity 2.0
Unparalleled Enterprise Security from Established Market Leader in Endpoint Protection
Las Vegas, Nevada, COMDEX Booth #1112 – November 18, 2002 – Zone Labs Inc., a leading creator of endpoint security solutions, today announced a major upgrade to Zone Labs Integrity, the best-in-class endpoint security solution that is unparalleled in protecting enterprise PCs and data in today’s highly vulnerable networked environments. Integrity 2.0 hardens organizations’ defenses against hackers, Trojan horses and targeted attacks with its centrally managed features that include Zone Labs’ award-winning firewall, application control and Cooperative Enforcementsm technologies. Integrity 2.0 integrates transparently with network infrastructure to deliver efficient policy management, enforcement and monitoring.
“Central management of desktop firewalls is the most revolutionary way for companies to respond to the increasing number and malice of network threats,” said Larry Pingree, noted security author. “I am very impressed with both the manageability and usability of Zone Labs Integrity 2.0. The feature set makes it extremely extensible and flexible to fit almost any corporate security policy. Zone Labs Integrity is very well positioned to become the leader of enterprise security solutions.”
Using the company’s best-of-breed endpoint security measures that safeguard more than 20 million PCs, including more than 500 enterprise customer installations, Zone Labs Integrity 2.0 provides proactive protection from targeted attacks and network infiltration. Furthermore, Integrity protects endpoints from these risks whether the endpoint accesses the network from a remote location via a VPN connection or from inside the corporate firewall. Integrity 2.0 makes it easier for administrators to design and enforce consistent security policies for this “borderless” enterprise, delivering advanced security while maintaining both IT and employee productivity.
“Usability and convenience are critical factors for IT buyers evaluating security solutions,” said Eric Hemmendinger, research director for security and privacy at Aberdeen Group. “Effective security solutions need to mitigate risks such as software microbes, stay out of the way of users, be easily managed by IT administrators, and fit in with the existing infrastructure.”
Recent research from Computer Economics underscores the scope of the need; data security breaches at the desktop are costing companies approximately $18.7 billion a year worldwide, illustrating the need for endpoint security.1
“Endpoint security is a mainstream issue for today’s enterprise; facing a landscape of evolving risk, customers understand that each vulnerable PC and the important data it contains must be secured,” said Frederick Felman, vice president, marketing, Zone Labs. “Zone Labs Integrity provides unmatched protection from the risks of targeted hacker attacks and infiltration by malicious code, using Zone Labs’ innovative “guilty until proven innocent” approach to security, thus filling the void left by other providers’ passive, reactive approaches.”
Hardened Security
Security in Integrity 2.0 is further hardened with additional defenses that block a new class of security vulnerabilities. In addition to controlling Internet access on an application level to prevent Trojan horses, Spyware and other malicious code from stealing data, Integrity 2.0 adds component control to ensure that only authorized and authenticated application components can load, thus preventing hackers from highjacking approved programs using theoretical exploits like those demonstrated by “Firehole”. Furthermore, Integrity 2.0 adds port and protocol control by application, enabling even more fine-grained control over firewall rules for security administrators.
Fast Deployment, Simpler and More Flexible Administration
With Integrity 2.0, client software installation and deployment is even easier and faster. Security administrators can deploy and update Integrity clients centrally. In addition, administrators can design and deploy initial policies in less than a day, providing immediate firewall protection to every network endpoint.
In addition, Integrity 2.0 allows administrators more flexibility in assigning policies to ensure the most appropriate policy is always in place. Administrators can now dynamically assign policy based upon IP address, user name, group assignment, or entry point to the network as well as upon any combination of these factors.
Consistent Policy Enforcement Across the Enterprise
Security administrators can design and enforce security policies efficiently, ensuring maximum effectiveness without sacrificing organizational productivity. To gain maximum control and simplify policy maintenance, Integrity 2.0 adds application and component group management features so that rules can be applied to collections of related programs, as well as to individual programs.
To give administrators a baseline when initiating their use of application control, Integrity 2.0 includes reference sources for common Microsoft applications and their components. These reference sources provide a starting point for administrators who wish to validate that the Microsoft applications installed in their enterprises have not been compromised. In addition, Integrity allows administrators to create their own customized reference sources for all applications and components in use at their companies.
Enterprise Class Interoperability
Integrity offers a flexible, extensible architecture to adapt to changing enterprise requirements and to reduce administrative and training costs. Integrity can work with gateway products such as VPNs, perimeter firewalls, web portal and router devices as well as database management systems including Oracle 8.1 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000. Supported directory and authentication systems include NT Domain and RADIUS, including RSA Ace/Server and Funk’s Steel-Belted RADIUS. Integrity 2.0 augments this enterprise class interoperability by adding support for LDAP user directories, including Netscape Directory Server, Novell eDirectory Server and Microsoft Active Directory.
Pricing and Availability
Zone Labs Integrity 2.0 will be available in Q4 2002 for purchase from Zone Labs and from Zone Labs Authorized Resellers. Pricing for Zone Labs Integrity 2.0 varies depending upon volume purchased and configuration, with pricing beginning at $65 for an end user license, with an Integrity server license included.
The Integrity server supports Windows® 2000 and Windows 2000 Advanced Server systems while Integrity clients run on Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT and XP machines.
