Zero-Knowledge Systems’ Stephanie Perrin to Speak at Comdex Canada’s “Security Versus Privacy” Keynote Panel
Montreal, Quebec – July 10, 2002 – Stephanie Perrin, Chief Privacy Officer of security and privacy solution provider Zero-Knowledge® Systems and a global privacy expert, will appear on the “Security versus Privacy Keynote Panel” at COMDEX Canada 2002. This panel session will focus on the often-divergent points of view of business and government on the practical and legal considerations arising from security and privacy issues. The panelists will discuss the impact of using technology to develop profiles and track potential threats to security versus the potential loss of privacy.
WHAT: Drawing on her international experience, Ms. Perrin will explain how today’s businesses are addressing emerging global privacy requirements and their relation to security. She will outline how emerging technologies can assist with building privacy into the infrastructure of our information technology systems, as well as in defining, managing and auditing privacy practices in the enterprise. She will also address the need for greater public education and use of technologies to protect home computer users’ security and privacy.
WHO: A seasoned privacy executive with extensive international experience, Stephanie Perrin joined Zero-Knowledge Systems in 2000 as Canada’s first Chief Privacy Officer. Formerly the Director of Privacy Policy for Industry Canada’s Electronic Commerce Task Force, she led the legislative initiative at Industry Canada that resulted in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. She is active in domestic and international privacy policy and compliance, including the International Association of Privacy Officers, the Canadian Council of Chief Privacy Officers and the Initiative for Privacy Standardization in Europe (IPSE). Ms. Perrin is the recipient of an Electronic Frontier Foundation Pioneer Award, the B.C. Freedom of Information and Privacy Award, and the Canadian Standards Association Award Of Merit.
