Data on 7000 Syngenta Notebooks Protected by Utimaco Safeware’s SafeGuard Easy
Corporate-wide security policy for mobile data deployed world-wide
Oberursel, June 20, 2002 – Utimaco Safeware AG and Syngenta, world leading agribusiness company, signed a contract concerning the corporate-wide use of SafeGuard Easy. The contract will run for at least three years and organizes platform migration, as well as updates and technical support for approximately 7,000 notebook users world-wide. Syngenta decided in favor of implementing SafeGuard Easy company-wide, when ICT systems were pooled with the agrochemical business division merger of Zeneca and Novartis in 2000. This ensures that Microsoft operating systems Windows 2000 and Windows XP are also provided with a suitable security system.
“Protecting data on our notebooks is essential to us because it could be a deciding influence in competition”, hits Daniel Rose the spot. Rose is responsible for ICT security at Syngenta world-wide. “Some hundreds of our researchers carry their research results on their notebooks with them. These data are enormous valuable because the survey costs a lot of effort in money and time. So they have to be protected unimpeachably, also if a notebook gets lost or is stolen. SafeGuard Easy approved to be the best solution.” reports Rose.
The Utimaco Safeware solution convinced Rose because of its paramount stability, the world-wide support by Utimaco Safeware and its partners as well as the little effort administrators have when they have to equip thousands of notebooks world-wide. Rose defines central security policy in Basel, Switzerland, and deploys it in over 600 affiliates around the globe. “Only after the roll-out and over a notebooks life span you will really know how expensive a security solution is”, reflects Rose. “Also regarding the total cost of ownership aspects SafeGuard Easy is unbeaten.”
