Board Brings Visionary Perspective to QualysGuard Platform
Redwood Shores, Calif. – June 10, 2002 – Qualysâ„?, Inc., the leader in Managed Vulnerability Assessment, announced at the 2002 Qualys Security Conference the inauguration of its Technical Advisory Board, to provide Qualys’ engineering team with regular counsel from eminent network security professionals.
Members of the advisory board will provide strategic direction on long range design and development plans for the QualysGuard? platform, Qualys’ automated, Web-based vulnerability assessment service, as well as future security technologies.
The advisory board is comprised of security industry luminaries from academia, business, and the IT community, including:
– Emir Arslanagic, Director of Security Engineering & Infrastructure, Cable & Wireless
– Becky Bace, President & CEO, Infidel, Inc.; former IDS pioneer at the National Security Agency
– Eric Cole, Research Director, SANS Institute and Adjunct Professor, Georgetown University
– David Mortman, Director of Information Technology, Siebel Systems
– Arn Schaeffer, former Executive VP of Engineering and Production Systems, VeriSign
– Mike Schiffman, Director of Security Architecture, @stake; formerly Director of R&D, Guardent
– Ed Skoudis, VP Security Strategy, Predictive Systems’ Global Integrity practice
– Phil Zimmermann, Creator of PGP
Each of these distinguished advisers has authored books and articles on network security and is a frequent commentator on defending organizations against network intrusions.
“Early vulnerability assessment technologies, while demonstrated to play a critical part in protecting systems, have not sufficiently evolved in usability and scalability to meet the demands of modern security management,” stated Becky Bace, a high-profile IDS expert and security consultant, President and CEO of Infidel, Inc., and a member of Qualys’ Technical Advisory Board. “Qualys has built the next-generation vulnerability assessment solution and delivered it as an automated, Web-based platform. This enables organizations to continuously audit their networks and eliminate risks that can disrupt business and cost millions of dollars. I look forward to working with Qualys to continue evolving its service to ensure that organization of all sizes can keep pace with the ever-changing security landscape.”
The advisory board, assembled by Qualys’ Vice President of Engineering, Gerhard Eschelbeck, will complement the strength and experience of Qualys’ renowned engineering group, the security industry’s largest and most experienced team dedicated to real-time intelligence on network vulnerabilities, development of detection and remediation signatures, and deployment of a secure, scalable Web service. Eschelbeck, who leads Qualys’ engineering efforts, is an internationally recognized security and distributed systems expert who has developed and delivered award-winning, market-leading security technologies and products.
“We are honored to welcome the support of this illustrious group of network security professionals on our advisory board,” said Philippe Courtot, Chairman and CEO of Qualys. “Since this acclaimed group is a combination of ‘big picture’ thinkers and ‘in the trenches’ hands-on users of Qualys’ technology, their input will allow us to fine-tune our development direction to ensure that we continue to deliver a service that addresses the performance, reliability, and usability requirements the market demands.”
