NetOctave To Demonstrate NSP2000B-SSL Security Accelerator Board Performing Greater Than 1,700 SSL Transactions Per Second at Networld+Interop Las Vegas 2002
Research Triangle Park, NC May 1, 2002 – NetOctave, Inc., a leading developer of security processors and security accelerator boards for the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), IPsec (Internet Protocol Security), and IP Storage markets, will demonstrate the NSP2000B-SSL Security Accelerator Board at the Networld+Interop Las Vegas 2002 tradeshow in booth #2951. The demonstration will highlight NetOctave’s NSP2000B-SSL Security Accelerator Board performing greater than 1,700 SSL transactions per second in a standard server appliance platform.
NetOctave will demonstrate the NSP2000B-SSL Security Accelerator Board running in a Dell 1650 server appliance system running Red Hat Linux 7.1. “The key metrics for security acceleration hardware are not raw algorithm performance or system-level performance running in high-end multi-processor servers that are not cost-effective for use in products,” said NetOctave CEO Rick Hegberg. “System designers need to see security accelerator hardware performance in the same industry-standard appliances that they use to build their own products. With this demonstration, NetOctave shows what the NSP2000B-SSL can deliver for OEM customers in a standard platform that has processing power and costs similar to what they use.”
NetOctave offers two security accelerator board product families that are built around NetOctave’s proprietary ASIC, the NSP2000 Security Processor. Products in the NSP2000-SSL product family provide complete SSL processing, including RSA functions, hash functions, and ARC4 encryption. Products in the NSP3000-IPsec product family deliver 3DES/SHA-1 encryption/authentication processing and IKE acceleration for IPsec.
Each product family features PCI- and PMC-based accelerator boards and includes extensive software support. The NSP2000-SSL series boards are targeted at web servers, SSL appliances, load balancers, XML servers, and switches. The NSP3000-IPsec series boards are designed for use in VPN appliances, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure. Both product families employ a scalable architecture to meet the performance requirements for current and next-generation appliance products. NetOctave has achieved several design wins for the NSP2000-SSL and NSP3000-IPsec product families, and is now shipping the products in production quantities.
“The NSP2000-SSL and NSP3000-IPsec Security Accelerator Board Product Families provide the complete package for system designers that need hardware acceleration for server appliance-based architectures,” said Hegberg. “We’ve made it easy to add SSL and IPsec acceleration to standard enterprise and data-center appliance-based products.”
