Kaspersky Labs Releases Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0
Meet Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0!
Kaspersky Labs releases the latest version of its popular anti-virus suite
Kaspersky Labs, an international data-security software developer, announces the official release of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0.
“We are pleased to present the latest version of our anti-virus product. The unique technology, updated design, and perfected administering system integrated into Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0 is the result of many years of work dedicated to improving the ease of working with the program and increasing computer defense reliability,” said Natalya Kaspersky, Kaspersky Labs CEO. The main distinguishing feature of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0 (also known by the code name “Prague”) is the product’s new generation anti-virus kernel based on the unique product structure and revolutionary technological interaction with an operating system. This noticeably increases defense reliability thwarting both existing and future threats to information safety.
The previous Kaspersky Anti-Virus version, 3.0, was developed five years ago and is still one of the most effective means for battling viruses. This is confirmed by the number of victories Kaspersky Anti-Virus has achieved in numerous comparative tests and the fact that a number of other anti-virus developers licensed the third generation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus kernel for use in their products.
“Customer security is the main priority in our work. We constantly monitor the virus-development situation and develop corresponding technology capable of defending users from even future threats to information security,” commented Denis Zenkin, Head of Corporate Communications at Kaspersky Labs. The most advanced anti-virus technology has been integrated into Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0, providing effective computer defense. The unique product module structure allows for both the installation, in real time, of the virus-signature database update and for the installation of the program itself. This condition makes it possible for an effective and efficient response to the appearance of new viruses, thus, providing for the proper defense that may require an update to the existing or addition to the new Kaspersky Anti-Virus module.
The anti-virus monitor has new, one-of-a-kind, built-in intercepting and infected-object treatment technology based on distributed, two-tier interaction with an operating system. This means of control over virus activity greatly increases overall computer stability, inasmuch as possible errors in the anti-virus application operation do not affect system functioning as a whole. In addition to this, an optimization of the anti-virus monitor and scanner is carried out: the modules are divided into two parts (interface and functional), where the first is enabled only upon user request and the second is active the rest of the time. This approach allows for economizing a computer’s operating memory and at the same time, speeds up the functioning of other applications.
The new Kaspersky Anti-Virus version (Personal Pro, Personal, Lite) fully supports the Microsoft Windows XP operating system. Amongst this versions latest innovations are: a complete user interface upgrade corresponding to Tree Chart technology; perfected system installation that allows for the saving the configuration of previously installed versions, and a quarantine feature for isolating infected and suspicious objects; expanded treatment of infected archived files; an added function for the treatment of Microsoft Outlook Express and objects upon system start up and also a memory scanning of active applications; and simplified operating features for disk recovery.
Registered users of previous product versions may download and install Kaspersky Anti-Virus 4.0 from the Kaspersky Labs site free of charge.
