Computhink’s ViewWise 5.3 Means Secure, Fast, Collaborative, Managed Access to Any Scanned Image
Integration with GroupWise 6.0 Brings Document Management Solution into Novell environment
Lombard, Illinois — March 5, 2002 – Computhink®, Inc. today announced the release of ViewWiseâ„? 5.3, its intuitive load-and-use document management software. This provides businesses and governments fast, reliable, and secure Web and Enterprise access to critical compound documents and images, with seamless integration for GroupWise® users.
ViewWise 5.3’s tight, 128-bit document encryption, coupled with the convenience of remote login, delivers on the promise of e-documents by allowing users to search, interact with, and collaborate with compound documents – all in a multi-user electronic environment protected by assigned security privileges.
“With ViewWise 5.3, any previous resistance to electronic documentation disappears as the software offers comprehensive image retrieval and output via the Web, and complete image management from the desktop, with across the board security features,” said Computhink’s President, Joe Wharram.
“This software solution scales readily to dependably connect thousands of users across heterogeneous technologies with ease, and can integrate with existing enterprise systems. The GroupWise Connector means GroupWise users can convert paper into electronic images, search images through a Web browser using existing GroupWise and NDS security schemes,” he added.
ViewWise 5.3 image-enables an existing digital data workflow process, making possible production imaging for enterprise-wide information sharing and management, when partnered with Microsoft®, Novell®, Xerox®, Scansoft®, Readsoft® or Metastorm® solutions. ViewWise adheres to many industry standards and facilitates seamless integration with many of today’s existing hardware and operating systems, utilizing Java server-based technology.
ViewWise 5.3’s functions are featured in five newly optimized components. They are:
ViewWise Online Client – featuring a VeriSign®-authenticated connection, enables remote log on access to ViewWise, with individual security privileges all the way down to the document level. Users also have the ability to search, retrieve, and view compound documents (images as well as native file format content), and optionally share them via email, fax, export, or send them to other applications. A Web Server component is also available, supporting Microsoft Internet Information Services® 5.0 and Netware Enterprise Web Server® 5.10c. Client support is based on Internet Explorer® 5 and 6, or Netscape Navigator® 6.2, running on Microsoft Windows® 98/ME/NT/2000 or XP platforms.
ViewWise Desktop Client – featuring an easy to use modular design with a comprehensive array of power user functionality, such as Batch Scanning and Indexing, auto image enhancement, optional document check-in/out system for mobile computing, together with drag and drop editing, stamp tools, hyperlink options, 16 layers of color coded annotations, enhanced thumbnail viewer, and advanced image archival.
GroupWise Connector® – seamlessly allows GroupWise® users to search and retrieve documents stored within the ViewWise enterprise system. Advanced integration of ViewWise documents and images with GroupWise provides GroupWise users with the ability to (1) perform enterprise level conversion of paper into electronic images, (2) extend the GroupWise full text search to include images stored within ViewWise, (3) leverage the existing GroupWise and NDS security schemes, and (4) provide optional Web-based access.
e-Work Connector – smoothly integrates ViewWise 5.3 content with MetaStorm’s e-Work-° workflow engine, allowing ViewWise documents to become part of the workflow process. They can be sent to the workflow right from the ViewWise Desktop Client, and returned complete with actions and optional audit trail generated while the document was part of the business process.
Eyes and Hands Connector® – integrates content from ReadSoft’s popular Eyes & Hands® forms extraction utility with the ViewWise system, enabling automatic document indexing and filing in ViewWise once verified in Eyes & Hands, all without any manual intervention.
