CertCo and Utimaco Safeware AG Join Forces to Deliver Security Solutions
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 22, 2002–
Utimaco Clients Can Benefit from Access to CertValidator(TM),
CertCo’s Interoperable, Real-time Digital
Certificate Validation Software
CertCo, Inc., a leading provider of risk management and security solutions for B2B e-commerce, today announced a technical alliance with Utimaco Safeware AG, a leading European vendor of high-end trust and risk management solutions for e-business environments.
Under the agreement, CertCo’s real-time digital certificate validation software, CertValidator(TM), will provide cryptographic authentication strength to Utimaco’s SafeGuard PKI and digital signature applications.
All e-business solutions that rely on digital signatures depend on four main components: a PKI to establish the level of trust by linking a signature key with a business partner’s identity; an application to sign transactions; an application that verifies these signatures; and, an infrastructure for real-time validation of digital certificates. The latter is especially important for transactions that must be carried out instantaneously or transactions for which a rollback scenario is close to impossible, as is often the case in automated trading environments.
According to Ronny Depoortere, Utimaco’s Vice President for Digital Transaction Security, “This new partnership creates a synergy between the complementary product ranges of both companies and generates new possibilities in emerging markets and business fields. Utimaco’s new generation SafeGuard PKI and CertCo’s CertValidator are complementary in every respect.”
As a first step Utimaco Safeware and CertCo have trained each other’s sales forces in Europe leading the way to further co-operation in customer projects. The synergy between both companies is an important advantage in today’s market where more and more companies, organizations and banks participate in global e-business initiatives.
“We recognize Utimaco’s increasing impact on the European PKI scene,” said June Yee Felix, chairman and CEO of CertCo, Inc., “and are very pleased about our partnership. Our real-time validation technology fits perfectly with the SafeGuard PKI, providing joint customers with a complete, secure e-business solution.”
