Authentor Releases SmartPath 2.2 Web Access Management, Authentication System

New Product Release Delivers Enhanced Network Security and User Management Capabilities

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 12, 2001–Authentor Systems Inc. today released version 2.2 of its SmartPath(TM) Web access management and authentication system.

SmartPath 2.2, which consists of hardware and software components as well as a proprietary behavior-profiling engine, provides businesses with advanced levels of network security and simplified user management. The release features new behavior-profiling options, including access frequency and access location, to enhance traditional authentication methods and ensure that users are who they claim to be. Out-of-the-box application integration and automation of security-policy configurations will help companies deploy their e-business initiatives quickly and reduce administrative costs. In addition, the new release provides extended logging and reporting capabilities that support compliance with a variety of federally mandated security and privacy regulations.

“A secure infrastructure is the foundation on which successful e-businesses are built,” said Bob Forbes, executive vice president of Authentor Systems. “The latest version of our flagship product provides a drop-in security solution that speeds deployment and reduces administrative costs. With the increase in both the number and sophistication of Internet-based attacks, businesses must take a proactive approach to network security and integrate a comprehensive solution that provides long-term ROI.”

SmartPath features role-based access control, single sign-on, centralized user management and a behavior-profiling engine that monitors and adapts to users’ normal behavior patterns to detect fraudulent activities and respond accordingly. It supports all authentication methods, including passwords, challenge-responses, behavior profiles, digital certificates, smart cards, tokens and biometrics, and it works with a variety of Web servers, including Microsoft IIS, Apache, iPlanet, BEA WebLogic, Lotus Domino, IBM HTTP and others.

“Behavior-based security provides a strong defense to the rising number and sophistication of reported attacks to computer systems,” said John Pescatore, vice president with Gartner Inc. “By monitoring users’ normal behavior patterns and flagging suspicious transactions, behavior profiling represents an emerging technology that can increase the security of authentication and access control methods.”
