Lockheed Martin Sponsors International Biometric Group Testing
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 5, 2001–Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) announced that it is an official sponsor of International Biometric Group’s Comparative Biometric Testing.
IBG’s Comparative Biometric Testing is the de facto industry standard for evaluating the accuracy of leading biometric technologies. Round Three of Testing, to commence later this month, will address the following technical and marketing questions regarding biometrics: How do finger-scan, iris-scan, facial-scan and voice-scan technologies compare in terms of accuracy? Within a given technology field, which vendors have the most effective technology? What are the exact accuracy rates that can be expected when applications are rolled out in the field? How easy are biometrics to use?
Lockheed Martin, the leading federal IT contractor, has recently announced that it is pursuing global opportunities using biometrics in conjunction with its proven integration capabilities to support government and commercial customers. “There are scores of companies developing and commercializing biometric technologies,” stated Vincent Furno, Director, Information Technologies & Identification Systems. “Independent tests and evaluations provide essential information to be used in selecting vendors.”
Round One of Comparative Biometric Testing, which commenced back in 1998 included eight finger-scan and two facial-scan technologies. Round Two was completed in February, 2001 and included finger-scan, voice-scan, signature-scan, keystroke-scan and facial-scan technologies from AuthenTec, Digital Persona, Ankari, Advanced Precision, Precise Biometrics, Ethentica, Nuance, Cyber-SIGN, Net Nanny and Visionics. Round Three will include leading finger-scan, iris-scan, facial-scan and voice-scan technologies.
