e-business technology, inc. Ships Security Scanner for Windows NT
PoliVec Scanner Checks Hundreds of Security Parameters on Windows-based Networks
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–March 12, 2001–e-business technology, Inc., a security services and product development firm, today announced the availability and shipment of PoliVec(TM) Scanner for Windows NT and Windows 2000 systems. PoliVec Scanner is an assessment tool designed to automate the gathering of detailed security information and to provide a central location for audit data.
PoliVec Scanner will quickly evaluate Windows NT and Windows 2000 systems to ensure they are correctly configured from a security policy standpoint. This includes such critical security settings as password management controls, account management, audit trail settings, user and group configurations, trust relationships, and system services. In addition, PoliVec Scanner provides a mechanism to quickly review registry settings to determine if patches and hot fixes have been installed. Since PoliVec Scanner easily integrates with existing technology, businesses can quickly and easily begin the process of checking and implementing company security policies.
“Out of the box, Windows 2000 servers have hundreds of potential parameters that need to be correctly configured to ensure a secure system,” said Bruce Hartley, President and CEO of e-business technology, Inc. “Our PoliVec Scanner gives network administrators the ability to quickly detect these possible trouble spots and provide a `best-practices’ recommendation.”
With over ten years of performing security assessments, e-business technology, Inc. has determined that there are two primary reasons companies are vulnerable: 1) the lack of a well defined security policy and 2) incorrectly and/or inconsistently configured systems. PoliVec Scanner is the right tool to help enterprises overcome such vulnerabilities.
