Check Point Unveils Next Generation Internet Security Management Infrastructure
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–March 12, 2001–
Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced a Next Generation Management Infrastructure that meets the next generation requirements of Internet security. Built upon the company’s Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture, Check Point Next Generation delivers a revolutionary management infrastructure for unparalleled efficiency, scalability and integration.
The new security management includes:
— SecureUpdate
— Security Policy Audit Trails and Enhanced Centralized Logging System
— High Availability for Security Management
“With the onset of more sophisticated network attacks and the explosive growth in the number of security enforcement points, efficient management and network scalability are critical with Internet security,” said Todd Miller, analyst, for the Yankee Group’s Security Solutions & Services planning service. “Check Point Software is defining the next generation security needs which include simple, scalable, secure and dependable VPNs with comprehensive management capabilities.”
Introducing Check Point SecureUpdate
As part of this Next Generation Management Infrastructure, Check Point’s new SecureUpdate extends Check Point’s current ability to provide centralized policy management across enterprise-wide deployments. SecureUpdate can deliver automated software and license updates to hundreds of distributed security gateways from a single management console. SecureUpdate ensures security deployments are always up-to-date by enforcing the most current security software. This powerful capability also provides greater control and efficiency while dramatically decreasing maintenance costs of managing global security installations.
Additional Features
— Security Policy Audit Trails: New audit trail capability enables administrators to track changes made to network security policies per user and date/time stamps.
— Enhanced Centralized Logging System: Enhanced logging functionality expands Check Point’s already comprehensive logging system by collecting and aggregating log files from Check Point and third-party security applications to give network administrators complete information.
— High Availability for Security Management: Both Check Point VPN-1/FireWall-1 Management Servers and VPN-1 SecureClient Policy Servers can now be configured to enable the use of a secondary server if the primary becomes unreachable. This functionality ensures continuous availability for management operations, such as policy changes and software upgrades, and for remote access VPN clients establishing connections.
Check Point Next Generation provides administrators with the platform to maintain the highest levels of security within a rapidly expanding network, while reducing the total cost of resources needed to manage enterprise VPNs. This infrastructure is designed to simplify the management of a complex distributed network.
“As the leader in Internet security, Check Point is driving the evolution of security management,” said Gil Shwed, chief executive officer and founder of Check Point Software Technologies. “By addressing customers’ future needs today — the Next Generation Management Infrastructure revolutionizes management for increasingly complex security environments.”
Product Availability
The Check Point Next Generation Management Infrastructure is part of the next major product family release of Check Point’s integrated VPN-1/FireWall-1, and is scheduled to be available in the second quarter 2001.
